Find Your Place in the Music

On rehearsal nights, singers arrive from across Bali carrying music folders, water bottles, and stories from their day.

Some have sung in choirs for years. Others have not sung with a group since school. Some are long-time Bali residents, while others have only recently made the island their home.

.By the time rehearsal begins, those different backgrounds matter far less than the music in front of them.

Bali Community Choir brings together people who enjoy singing and want to be part of a shared musical experience. There are no auditions, and new members are always welcome.

Your First Rehearsal

Joining a new choir can feel daunting.

Many members still remember arriving at their first rehearsal wondering whether they would know anyone, whether they would be able to keep up, or whether they belonged in a choir at all.

What they usually discover is a room full of people who once had exactly the same questions.

.You’ll be welcomed, introduced to fellow singers, and invited to join in at your own pace. There is no expectation that you can read music or have previous choir experience. What matters is a willingness to participate and enjoy singing with others.

For some, that first rehearsal marks a return to music after many years away. For others, it is the beginning of an entirely new hobby.

Learning Together

Every rehearsal is a combination of learning, listening, and singing together.

New repertoire is introduced throughout the year, giving members opportunities to explore different musical styles while developing vocal skills and musical confidence.

Experienced singers bring knowledge and encouragement. Newer singers bring fresh enthusiasm and perspectives. Everyone contributes to the sound of the choir.

Progress happens gradually—one rehearsal, one song, and one season at a time.

Sharing Music Beyond the Rehearsal Room

The music learned in rehearsal often finds its way into the wider community.

Over the years, choir members have taken part in Christmas concerts, ANZAC Day remembrance services, fundraising events, community celebrations, and environmental initiatives such as Choir for Coral at CTC.

These performances take place in a variety of settings, from community venues and churches to cultural spaces and public events. Some invite audiences to sing along. Others create moments of reflection and remembrance.

For choir members, these events are often where months of rehearsal come together. The music becomes something shared with family, friends, visitors, and the wider Bali community.

Who Can Join?

.Bali Community Choir is open to adults of all backgrounds, nationalities, and levels of musical experience.

You do not need formal music training, previous choir experience, or the ability to read sheet music.

Many members join after years away from singing. Others are completely new to choir life. What they share is a curiosity about music and a willingness to participate.

If you enjoy singing, there is a place for you here.

A Part of Life in Bali

For many members, choir becomes a familiar part of their weekly routine.

It is a place to focus on something creative, learn alongside others, and spend time with people they may never have met otherwise. Over months and years, rehearsals become performances, performances become shared memories, and familiar faces become friends.

The choir is not only about music. It is about showing up each week, contributing your voice, and being part of something created together.
