Welcome to Bali Community Choir, where the joy of singing is woven into the fabric of our journey
Founded in 2009, Bali Community Choir was created with a simple but powerful vision: to bring people together through music, friendship, and the shared joy of singing.
At the heart of the choir is founder and musical director Brendan O’Donnell, whose lifelong passion for music, education, and community leadership has shaped the choir into one of Bali’s most welcoming musical communities.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Brendan developed his love of music from an early age, studying piano as a child and actively participating in church and community choirs throughout his youth. Alongside his musical journey, he built a distinguished career in education, training as a teacher before becoming a school principal for ten years.
Brendan later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Monash University and went on to lead music departments in Melbourne secondary schools, directing numerous successful musical productions and inspiring generations of young performers.
Before moving to Bali, Brendan conducted two highly successful “Sing Australia” choirs in Melbourne. Under his leadership, these choirs grew from small local groups into thriving musical communities of over 150 members, reinforcing his belief in the transformative power of singing.
In 2008, Brendan made Bali his permanent home, drawn by the island’s beauty, warmth, and strong sense of community. Inspired by his experience in Australia, he saw an opportunity to create something special in Bali—and in 2009, the Bali Community Choir was born.
Today, the choir brings together around 60 members from diverse backgrounds, cultures, nationalities, professions, and age groups. With an almost equal balance of Indonesian and international members, as well as male and female voices, the choir reflects the inclusive spirit of Bali itself.
Our Philosophy
At Bali Community Choir, we believe singing should be accessible to everyone.
There are:
- No auditions
- No requirement for professional experience
- No barriers to participation
Our goal is not perfection—it is connection, confidence, joy, and community.
Whether someone has sung on stage for years or has never sung in public before, everyone is welcome. Music becomes the bridge that connects people, builds friendships, and creates unforgettable shared experiences.
Performance & Community Engagement
Over the years, Bali Community Choir has proudly performed at a variety of public and private events, including:
- Charity and community gatherings
- International cultural events
- Memorial services
- Hotel and restaurant performances
- Christmas carol celebrations across Bali
- Special ceremonies and commemorative events
One particularly memorable performance was at the Bali Bombings Commemoration Service at Garuda Wisnu Kencana, attended by dignitaries including Australian Prime Ministers, Indonesian ministers, and Balinese leaders.

Embarking on our spiritual journey over three decades ago, we have stood as a beacon of hope, fostering a strong sense of fellowship among its members.
Singing and Community Gatherings
We conduct weekly worship services, bringing together an average of 300 individuals each Sunday to celebrate and strengthen their faith.
Volunteers
Over 100 dedicated volunteers actively contribute to the various ministries and services that make FaithfulGathering a thriving community.
Community Outreach Events
In the past year, we organized 20+ events, reaching over 1,000 individuals in need through food drives, clothing donations, and support programs.
